We love Luca's Nosh. This is our favorite neighborhood spot, and the perfect place for a quick date night dinner. The menu is small, changes regularly, and everything on it is delicious. Nosh has a great beer & wine selection and cocktails are available as well. The staff is friendly and service is always prompt and professional. Nosh is the best-kept secret in 78209 so don't go telling everyone.

Yum! A friend and I went here for lunch before going to the McNay. Service was quick and our server was friendly and helpful with giving advice on menu items. I appreciated her honesty about portion sizes--what would be enough for two, what was a little smaller, etc. I also appreciate that she didn't try to upsell us into buying more than we could actually eat. The food was perfect for sharing. The shrimp salad, fried asparagus and wild board sliders were ask very tasty and just enough for two people needing a light lunch. I'd order all of it again! I'd recommend going during the day, the place only had a few other tables filled so it was very peaceful. The ambience was calm and casual, but stylish. I will be back.

Came here on a special date night with my husband. We were less than impressed with the service. When we got there we waited a very long time for someone to take our drink order and then we waited even longer to actually get our drinks and have our food order taken. They were not busy at the time, only 2 other tables were taken. We ordered the cheese plate and the truffle fries which were excellent. We also ordered the margarita pizza which was a stretch...it was just a cheese pizza with basil. It was VERY greasy, but it wasn't horrible. Food was fine, service was bad, but the prices were great...very inexpensive. $35 for 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers & a pizza. Can't beat that ...

When you enter Nosh, the first thing you'll hear is, "Are you here for Silo?" It's a little confusing (Silo is the sister restaurant upstairs); you'd think they'd come up with another way to greet customers. After visiting Nosh twice, I'd give it a solid 3.5 star rating. The dinner options are good, and the prices are very reasonable. I ordered the chopped salad both times, because I liked it that much, but looking over the menu again I'm sad I didn't see the mushroom and kale crepes (I guess I'll have to go back!). We've also had the truffle fries, which are pretty standard. My husband had a pasta dish that was good, although it didn't have a ton of flavor. I appreciate Nosh's plentiful vegetarian options, and the portion sizes are a good size even for being a "small plate" restaurant. They also have a varied selection of beer.

First time here. Only came here for the fried risotto that everyone posted pictures of... Sadly, they removed it off the menu!! Bummer. Sliders were also removed from menu... So all of the pictures that enticed me to come here in the first place don't even exist. Ended up with the wild boar pizza, not bad.

I got raw chicken. That is not cool. Chicken scaloppine. Sorry guys, I was expecting something better from a trendy looking place.

Where to begin? The place has a lot of potential but unfortunately has not taken advantage. The menu, in my opinion, was an interesting and intriguing circa 2010. We started with the oysters which was def a mistake, poorly shucked and not fresh. Fortunately the mignonette was good/strong enough to compensate. Truffle fries were decent, if only they would have actually had truffle. We also ordered the trio of dips, margherita pizza and a salad. Pizza and olive tapenade only reason 2 star review as opposed to a 1 star review.

Stopped with a friend of mine for lunch just before Christmas. The place is small and of course attached to Silo's. We met on his break from 'the Sam'. Yep, small plates. You get to share. I do enjoy the concept. I ordered an unsweet iced tea; this tea was excellent! Orange, peach, & ginger maybe? Loaded with flavor, I imbibed four glasses of the stuff, good stuff. We ordered wild boar sliders, truffle oil & Parmesan fries, the trio of spreads with house toast, and the shrimp salad. The boar was moist & tasty served with the shallot & jalapeno it was magical. The fries were served with this sauce...maybe mayo, ground mustard & horseradish? These were some damned good fries were generally fries are just fries, these were special. Each of the three spreads was incredibly flavorful. And the shrimp salad, wow! In retrospect, I would have been happy with just the salad. Overall a very pleasant experience. Perfect for lunch, we will go again.

Came for a quick bite! Great as usual. Kale salad with fried chickpeas was especially good. Partner loved the mushroom/kalamata crepe. Good service.

Chef Luca's dishes are simply amazing!! We tried a variety of things from the menu, and loved every bite. The lemon chicken scallopini was just the right balance of sweet lemon and saltiness from the capers, and the fried quail legs were perfectly cooked. We got both types of cannoli for dessert, and honestly can't decide which one we liked better! We will definitely come back!!

I stopped in Nosh the other night for a quick something cold to drink. I opted for the Blackberry Storm. So cool and refreshing. The perfect cocktail for a hot summer Texas day. Would definitely get this enticing beverage again. The beef tartar is fantastic. The celery, anchovy, mustard dressing really takes it over the top. The fried risotto balls are very tasty. Love the ambiance and the service was professional and friendly. Highly recommend.

Arrived on a Saturday night at 22.15. They don't close until 23.00 The "chef" aka line cook told us they closed early because they didn't have any business. We told them the customers just arrived to which they replied "sorry we are already closed" It would be great to hear "sorry we are closed however we'd love to have you back in the future here is a comped meal"...instead we were just told they closed early. Not even a half assed apology. Not worthy of a second chance *Kanye Shrug

Nosh means snacking right? Well I definitely did more than snack there. OOPS! After hearing many of my friends in SA rave about this place, I had to try it so my mom and I headed over at 3pm for a late lunch. OUR MENU: 1. "noshos" with cheeses, refried black beans, cilantro & this lime creme on top - YUM 2. green chile mac & cheese - I'M WANTING SOME AS I TYPE THIS 3. spinach salad w/ red onions, goat cheese & warm applewood smoked bacon & vinaigrette - I COULD HAVE SLURPED UP THAT DRESSING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BOWL 4. korean beef bbq tacos w/ sesame ginger slaw - THE FLAVOR & TENDERNESS OF THE BEEF WAS PERRRRRFECT 5. homemade doughnut holes (w/ brown sugar) served w/ white & dark chocolate - NOT MY FAVORITE BUT THAT WHITE CHOCOLATE SAUCE WAS DELISH I don't understand why many of the reviews said it was expensive because for all of that food (we had tons leftover) & tip included, our bill was under $50. We didn't order alcohol so maybe those cocktails are pricey? Only reason I couldn't give this place 5 stars is because the service was just okay and the doughnuts were dry! :X Whether you want to snack or pig out, Nosh is a great choice of homemade, delicious & creative food in SA!!!

We came in for lunch and it was our first visit. Initially, I was surprised how small the restaurant is..We waited a few minutes for the staff to greet us and seat us. After being seated the server stopped by for drink orders. We talked a little about the menu and that the items were 'tapas' and appetizer portions. We decided to sample seven different items...LOVED them all. Pizza being one of the best. We will be back!

  • Brent L.

Yeah, they were ok. I had the slider sampler (crab, pork, and beef sliders) and the wife had the mahi-mahi fish tacos. They have an excellent selection of beers and specialty drinks from the bar. I think the slider sampler was about $12. I don't remember how much the tacos were but I think the sliders had more flavor than the tacos did. All in all, it was just a tad overpriced. This is an Alamo Heights type place trying to sneak up the old Austin Highway. I expect to see more of this over the coming years...

After passing by this place a couple of times, looking through delectable photos on Yelp and deciding that the menu was a great fit for our pallets, we decided to give this place a try. I read all the warnings of the terrible service, but thought, "hey! Maybe the food will be as good as it looks." Right. The food was great, but the service was terrible from the get-go. Let's just say this place had a 3-star review even before we got there. It was a Saturday night and since this is a "small bites" sister restaurant of Silo, we figured making a reservation would be a good idea. I called the number and chose Nosh - then, this happened: Operator 1: Said she'd transfer me to a host Operator 2: Told me reservations might be a good idea, then asked me to hold on Operator 3: Made a reservation, only for us to realize I had been transferred to the 1604 location of Silo Operator 4: Told me to hold on Operator 5: Told me I didn't need to make a reservation ...So, I was on the phone for about 6 minutes just being passed around like a hot potato only to learn I didn't even need to make a reservation. So yes, 3 stars. Once we pulled up to the restaurant, we noticed there was plenty of parking up front (where Nosh's entrance is) and most of the crowd was heading to Silo (which I suppose is toward the back). We went inside this place and to our surprise, it resembled more of a coffee shop than a nicer restaurant (mostly due to a glass cooler right in the front that stored beer only). The restaurant was empty, but we decided to sit outside anyway. On the table were menus, so we looked through our own to decide what we wanted. We'd decided on oysters, so I had my own choice picked out, as did Zain B. Once we were comparing, we realized we had different menus, as they had completely different kinda of oysters listed, while everything else was the same. We decided to compare the additional menus on the table and noticed they all had different kinds of oysters listed. Alright, that's weird. We asked our server, who took his sweet time to even come up to us, about the deal with the oysters and he said they may only have one kind available and he'd have to go check in the back to make sure. What? If your restaurant serves oysters, you've got to not only have a good knowledge of what's being served, but perhaps consistent enough menus for the occasion. He came back to tell us we only had one option, and that they're $3 each, so we decided to get two just to try out. Those particular oysters were a bit salty for our taste, but they did come with a few different types of sauces and saltines, which were enjoyable. We'd also read all about the macaroni and cheese that's supposed to be divine, but that wasn't available on the menu. We decided to get fried chick peas to snack on, which were simple (also, a big pricey at $5!), but they were good. We decided to split a pizza - the Bomba Pizza - for our main course. So, this Bomba pizza is initially served with a different kind of meat, but we asked to substitute that with chicken. There's also an option to create your own pizza, which starts at $9 and goes up about $1.50-$2.00 with each topping, but we thought we'd order the Bomba with a substitute (that's the same price according to the make-your-own menu). Now, let me say this. The pizza was delicious - spicy, cheesy and just all around a great dish! We asked for crushed red pepper and Parmesan, and of course, we got the real and fresh stuff. Super fan! The thing I didn't like toward the end, however, was the fact that we were charged extra solely to substitute a similar meat with chicken. That just made no sense, as he labeled our order as a Create Your Own on the receipt. Also, the pizza's supposed to come with capers... Well, we got a good 4 small capers with absolutely no flavor. This must be disappointing for the chefs who have the ability to create and make such delicious food, yet it's ruined by incompetent customer service. Our server was completely inattentive and had no knowledge of what was going on, and even the other girl at the restaurant didn't seem to have much of a clue. There were only a couple of tables full around us, all of whom seemed to receiving no service. So disappointed by the service, because the food is actually delicious. Hope these guys can make some changes!

I want so badly to love this place because it's small and kind of charming and Luca. But we've eaten here twice and just can't say we're very impressed. The burrata is amazing, we are still dreaming about it, but nothing else we've tried has knocked us over. Our last visit, Luca was sitting at the bar (right near our table) eating and the staff was mostly kind of hanging out talking to him and that felt a bit too informal to us while customers are there. Oh and the back room that has half of the tables has terrible lighting that feels like spotlights on you, it's a bit harsh and annoying. Maybe if they update the menu soon, we'll give it another try. I really wish I could give Nosh a more glowing review.

Nosh is THE place to get your mac n' cheese fix on. It is slightly spicy and has a bit of a crunch, but that only adds to both it's flavor and charm. Perfect. The staff is attentive and the food is delicious, so much so that we're headed back to Nosh next week.

I've been to Nosh a couple of times, and this time did not disappoint. The menu was just revamped, there is a new listing of new cocktails. I sampled two and they were delish! Very refreshing, just in time for the hot summer temps. I had the noshos and fries as appetizer, and the mahi mahi fish tacos as my entree. All tasted delicious. The wait staff was super friendly and attentive to our needs. My friends and I wanted the banana pudding (it is excellent as well), but we didn't save room; we will definitely order it next time! Nosh prices are reasonable as well; you definitely get a bang for your buck.

My husband and I went to Nosh this weekend for an early dinner date night. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable and our food was delicious, especially the burrata. Everything was going well until we were stranded at the end waiting a long time for another drink. We waited so long that we decided to skip the last drink, which I was glad we did once we got the bill. My husband and I are "beer people" so when we saw on our bill that the beer flight was $20 I almost fell out of my chair. 6 okay, pre-selected samplers that couldn't have been more than 6oz each. When a pint goes for $5, I don't really understand this price point. We have ordered flights all across the country and I've never paid $20 for any of them. When another server finally went to ask our server something in the back room, my husband saw her in there on her phone which explained why we had been abandoned. This was almost a great experience, and I would still go back... I would just be sure to drink by the pint!

I love it here!! Great service and the food here is probably my favorite in San Antonio. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes here. The pizza here is to die for (my fav is the wild boar, bomb, and the Bianca). Nosh has gained a customer for life right here!!

  • Amy D.

Nosh is owned by the same company as Silo and is at the bottom level of the same building. Nosh is scaled down from Silo as far as food goes and the drink menu focus is on cocktails. All wines run $7 and the list is limited. The cocktails run $4-$8 and although tasty, in my opinion not worth the price. The $4 drinks are dubbed "novelty drinks" and we decided it was due to the size (probably about 4 oz). During happy hour they do not offer drink specials but do have 1/2 price appetizers. The vibe you get is this place wants to be a classy cocktail lounge. Well the white paper table clothes set up like we are going to throw down on a craw fish boil really makes me not want to spend $8 on a week cocktail.

I really feel bad for the chefs at this place because their outstanding food was overshadowed, at least tonight, by the awful service. Good lord these people were incompetent. Particularly a girl with reddish funky messy hair... First of all, don't bother making reservations ahead of time because they won't honor them. The venue wasn't even full tonight and I had to wait at the bar area for a table, even after my friend had made reservations online ahead of time. We finally got our table and, after a 30-minute wait, I had to complain to get a server to take our order. After our order was taken, our food took forever to get to us. Ugh. Sure, the food was absolutely amazing, but 45 minutes for truffle fries (which were outstanding) and a pizza is just too long in my book. Again, the place was NOT packed. I mean, this is food brought to us by the guy that used to be in charge of the kitchen at II Sogno. It is great food. Solid dishes made with love and blah blah blah. Why was this waiter so apathetic and ridiculously lousy at her job. All you really have to do is walk dishes from the kitchen to the tables, mija. Smile a little. Hurry up. Be attentive! I don't know her name but she was awful and doesn't belong in front of people. The arancini was to die for, btw and the sweet fried gnocchi with nutella & dulce de leche was one of the best desserts I've had. Ever. I really hate to do this to you, Nosh, but your mouthwatering menu deserves better service. You get two starts for not being as selective with your staff as you are with your food. BAM! I may be a glutton, but I'm a glutton with dignity and standards.

Nosh is probably my favorite restaurant in town. This is due to a number of reasons. First, it's cozy. Somewhat hidden and also somewhat overshadowed by its big sister Silo, this place is usually only almost filled to capacity. What that means to me is that people like it enough to fill it up, but not so many people know about it that you have to wait long for a table. The decor is modern and simple, and the ambiance tends to be a friendly buzz - people laughing and enjoying their meals, but not so loud that you have to yell at the other people in your table. The patio dining area is comfy with appropriate lighting, plus it's dog-friendly. Second, I have personally not had a poor experience with the service at Nosh. On the contrary, I've been here many times and my party has always been treated like our business is important. The waitstaff has been nothing but friendly, helpful, and attentive. Most importantly, the food is outstanding. I know it's a little pricey, but I gladly pay a few extra dollars for some extra thought, care, and originality in my food. My wife and I are very light eaters, so the small plates concept is perfect for us. Their menu recommends 2-3 plates per person to share and make a meal. We order 3 and usually don't finish it all. So the bill is always surprisingly low. I also love that the menu is always changing with new themes being emphasized each time we return. On our last trip, we had the beef tartar, which was less heavy and more lively than I expected. Perfect. Other standouts from past trips include the fried risotto balls and shrimp corn dogs. The drink menu at Nosh is, to me, the biggest room for improvement. They have a large selection of beer and wine, but are quite limited on local brews, which is a shame since there are so many to choose from! Also, they would have to knock a dollar off their drink prices for me to consider them reasonable. Drink menu gripes aside, I love eating at Nosh. It's always a fun experience and I leave completely satisfied every time.

Everyone raves about the food. First off, its not that fancy. The green chili Mac n.cheese is ok. Its a bit spicey but the heat level is mild. The Korean beef tacos. I'm sorry, I'm Korean, and if you are going to label something with Korean, you better be able to bring some street cred. First, the cut of meat was all wrong. For a beef taco, I'd prefer thinly sliced meat so that the marinade can soak all the way through, or if u want the thick cubes of meat, spend a little and go with something a little more tender. Korean beef needs a kick or heavy punch of garlic, the ones served at Nosh definitely lacked flavor. And how easy to top with some kimchee inspired slaw on top. Next, if you name something shrimp corndogs, wouldn't you expect a thicker corn base batter? Heavy batter only soaks the oil more when making fried shrimp. The only saving grace was the donut holes. The white and dark chocolate sauce just cheapens the flavors...just stick with the donut holes...my only gripe is that I was craving biegnets freshly tossed in sugar with mascarpone cream and raspberry preserves....sigh... But thats at Lola's up in downtown Seattle. if only nosh would make a fluffier lighter donut hole, but hey, I still wanted more after I finished... Worth checking it out at least once but I defintely see room for improvement.

The exterior was beckoning us so we finally caved yesterday and tried lunch. My first mistake was checking out other yelpers photos and deciding I wanted to try the fancied up Mac n cheese. Well, the small menu changes often so no Mac n cheese. Instead, I ordered the Bomba pizza. The first slice was delicious but as I ate another all I could concentrate on was how salty it was. I think if they added something to counter the extra salty capers and sausage it would have been perfection. Overall, the experience was okay. I do want to go back and try the Silo restaurant upstairs. I have to say, I think Dough has ruined us on pizza. Nothing ever measures up to how ahhhmaazing theirs is. :/ Maybe we will head back to Nosh in a couple months to try a new menu ... Then again, maybe not. Tongs Thai is right across the street and I think it would be hard to drive past that goodness for the mediocrity of Nosh. Meh.

Tried this place because of a Groupon and I'm so glad I did! Even without the Groupon, the prices were right on point, $5 cocktails, $6-$8 "small plates" and $12-$15 "large plates" aka dinner size. My husband and I split the green chilli mac n cheese, philly steak sandwich with garlic fries and banana pudding for dessert and we were stuffed! The food is fresh, creative and tasty. I thought everything about the place was great, it was modern but still casual at the same time, all the wait staff were friendly and relaxed, Nosh has a very nice vibe about it. Great beer list, but the only downside is they just have one tap :-( Otherwise, I'll be back to try a few things I didn't have roof for the first time! The menu is not very large, so I wonder if they have some anchor items and then rotate out some new choices seasonally, either way I'll be back to check it out.

Each experience at Nosh makes me fall in love that much more. The small space somehow produces such an amazing ambiance and delicious plates. A few of my favorites include the pork belly, fried chickpeas & risotto arancini!

Our first experience at Nosh was a great one. They were doing a two for one special and were incredibly busy that night so I was glad I made a reservation before hand. I highly suggest you make a reservation, even though it isn't necessary so you can be sure to get a table. Even though they were busy, the one server handled all tables professionally. Staff was friendly and polite. The food was even better! We ordered drinks, a few oysters, the truffle fries, argentinian sausage with chimichurri, margherita pizza and maltagliati pasta. There was plenty of food for two people and we ate it all. Can't wait to go back and try something different.

This place is pretty rad. The Nosh part of Silo is actually kind of small so if you are looking for more space go inside to the bar. I've tried both their wings as well as the slider sampler pack. The food here is very delicious and made utlizing fresh ingrediants. This place falls right in line with places such as Stone Werks, and Houlihans as far as price and atmosphere go. Check this place out!!

I recently read a review of Nosh and it sounded incredible, exactly the kind of place that my wife and I like to go. I did my research on the place and then got off of work early just so that we could drive across town to try it. When we arrived we were eagerly anticipating an evening of great food, warm atmosphere, and good drink. The place looked just as advertised except that the doors were locked. The lights were on but no one appeared to be home. After a puzzled couple of minutes two employees came into the front room. I went to the door and was told that they were closed for a private party. I understand that this is a business and they need to make money however they can, but that leaves me feeling quite unappreciated and I nicely told the lady that or rather that I would not be back. I'm not sure how they could have made this right but at the very minimum notice on their facebook/website would have gone a long way. What it did say was open Tues - Sat 11-11. My time is valuable and I will not waste it on a business that doesn't understand that. However, It ended up being wonderful night anyways as we went to Zinc in downtown S.A. and had a great time. They really appreciated our business and it showed. Too bad about Nosh, but what else can I say?

I've been to Nosh a few times now, and I'm definitely a fan. They have a solid selection of beers, and great food for fairly reasonable prices. If you have a chance to get the Oysters or the Shrimp and Grits, do it - they are fantastic.

Went for lunch this week. I was pleased with my spinach salad and arancini. The truffle fries were excellent too. One thing I noticed was that aside from boar, there's not a lot of meat on the current menu. If you're looking for a meaty dish, you might have a hard time. But I was pleased with the variety: mac n cheese, pastas, pizzas, salads. Lots of vegetarian options too.

This past week I was on a hunt to try different happy hours that I hadn't yet dabbled in. I tend to be a creature of habit when I find a reliable happy hour. Luckily, Nosh might just be added to that ever-growing list. I wish their happy hour was an hour (even half hour) longer. For those of us that get out of work at 5pm, a happy hour from 4pm-6pm is just a tease. Then again, I tend to get carried away with the term and often enjoy happy hours plural better than the singular version. Still, it's just encouragement to get there as close to 5pm as possible. The small plate prices are absurd, in the best way. $5 for a plate of food that can be easily shared with 3-4 people, and it is GOOD food. I love the shrimp corn dogs. They are just what they sound like, and come with three per order and some delicious hollandaise-y sauce for dipping (don't skip that part). We also tried the nashos (heh), grilled mushrooms, fries, and a prosciutto and arugula flatbread. For drinks, I think the $5 cocktails are also a steal, and they're $5 outside of happy hour, I think. They are "specialty" cocktails, so somewhat creative and interesting. I'm pretty sure you would pay more like $8 for these elsewhere. I was bummed that they didn't have any wine specials for happy hour, only $8 glasses of wine. Definitely not happy hour in my terms. We topped it all off with a few desserts. Homemade cinnamon sugar doughnut holes served with a yummy icing and dark chocolate for dipping, a fig, goat cheese and honey tart, and banana pudding. The doughnuts were melt in your mouth status. All in all, I think Nosh is a wonderful change-up to the average happy hour and would even be a great place to have apps before dinner, or late night drinks and dessert.

What a weird dinner we had at Nosh tonight! The food was all good. We had the arancini, charcuterie plate, and tagliatelle seafood special. The arancini was hot, crispy and flavorful. The charcuterie was luscious and tasty. The pasta was overly salted and chewy, yet surprisingly delicious. Seriously-- no real complaints about the food. The service, on the other hand, was bizarre. The waitress was just not on her game, to a level that it made us question what was going on in the kitchen. It was slow, discombobulated, and frenzied, all at the same time. We are really excited for Luca Della Casa to be taking over this spot. I have longed for it to be our special neighborhood joint. It's just not there yet, but ONLY because the service is bad. Our drinks arrived fifteen minutes apart, which meant for an awkward "cheers" for our date night. The small plates, though tasty, came to the table 20-30 minutes apart-- not what you would expect for a "small plates" joint. We will try it again, but I hope that they work out the kinks.

My wife and I have now visited Nosh on three occasions. Each time, staff were personal, attentive, and/or humorous. Their recommendations are top-notch. Have yet to have a repeat menu item and have yet to find anything less than excellent on the menu. Wines are yummy. Have yet to try their beers. At the last visit, their espresso machine was broken, so the server went upstairs to Silo to make my cappuccino. Little touches like that set Nosh apart. A favorite!

Hubs and I went with another couple to enjoy the new menu at Nosh. We are fans of Chef Luca from his Il Sogno days and were excited to find out what he has done at Nosh! He & his staff did not disappoint! We enjoy small plates/family style so we ordered two rounds of plates for the table. The stand outs were the truffle fries (aren't they always? ;) and the pork sandwich, which may not always be available as it is not listed on their online menu (open faced roast beef sandwich is listed in it's place). The fried chickpeas were tasty but not my favorite as cumin is not among my favorite spices. The wild boar sliders were delicious as well but were outshone by the pork sandwich. Nosh offer some great beers on tap, beer flights and a good variety of wines. Fun dinner! We will be back!!

Tried this cute little place about a week ago after reading the reviews on here. I was excited to try the Mac & cheese folks were raving about but my waitress said they had just changed the menu so it was no longer offered. I tried several of the mixed drinks, with the cucumber refresher one being my favorite. The truffle fries? I guess they were ok...not a huge fan as it felt heavy and greasy after eating it for a bit. But then I had this watermelon salad thingy and it was perfect. An absolutely delicious little bite to eat on a hot Texas day. Service was really attentive. Plus having a groupon made it very reasonable.

This is a cozy little restaurant, a nook if you will situated with a bar, & fine dining restaurant all in the same building. Sitting down with a big chalkboard behind me of beers & wines, I was anxious to see what they would offer for food. I was pleasently surprised to find some interesting options like; barratta & fried rissotto balls. I like to order things I cant normally find & they also have to be "kosher style" so Nosh's menu heavy with pork & boar limited my options. I started with the rissotto balls which also had ground meat & tomatoes, they were excellent. The other starter was the truffle fries which were hand cut, topped with a shaved white cheese & served with a tangy mustard base sauce & cooked perfectly. Main course was the barratta I had never had one but it is a light whipped Italian cheese slightly sweet & served with grilled zucchini sun dried tomato & arugula. Three dishes in & I can tell the chef knows how to balance his flavors, mixing nutty with sweet adding acid when needed & not forgetting texture. I also shared the butternut squash ravioli & was amazed at the delicate, clearly homemade pasta. It was cooked al dente with tender squash & a sage sauce full of flavor, it mixed perfectly with the homemade pasta. I also got to try "the bomb", a thin crust pizza made with spicy tomato sauce & vegetarian toppings. After having a bite I thought; why has no one done this before!! Spicy tomato sauce- brilliant. I ended with the fried gnocchi served with Nutella & a caramel sauce; probably the least impressive but still good. This was joyous meal, full of oohs & aahs. I appreciate the risks the chef took & his attention to detail. Nosh also regularly changes the menu options, so don't come once thinking in a month or two you will see the same items- cause you won't! The only reason I'm not five staring it is it is a limited menu & had very few vegetarian or raw dishes but if I could give it 4.5, I would.

Let me just say this...Chef Luca della Casa is in the house! (This was not meant to be the department of redundancy department, but seemingly it is.) This Italian stallion chef was in charge of the kitchen at Il Sogno and is now king of Nosh where he whips up small plates with big tastes. (That's their slogan, not mine, but it's true.) Relaxing and tasteful, the decor is understated but works well for the limited space. We bellied up at the bar as we prefer the natural lighting in that room. A meat-centric menu, but not in a heavy way, co-mingled with international flavors. The chef sent us an order of fried chickpeas dusted with cumin and we popped them in our mouth! Hot and crispy and not the least bit greasy, these would be a great accompaniment to a flight of beer. Considering we arrived at Nosh for a mid-afternoon nosh, I eschewed alcohol. But there is always next time... Hands-down, the house salad is one of the simplest and yet most delightful salads I have had in this town. Spicy arugula is paired with crispy thin carrot coins and pickled radishes. The dressing is what ties it all together impeccably. Order one, but you'll want two. The skewer of grilled eggplant, tomato, fried sweet potato and mozzarella was served with a side of pesto and it did not last long. Savory, crispy, grilled and creamy. Lovely combinations and tastes and textures. Grilled Argentinean sausage with chimichurri was also quickly devoured. Grilled to perfection, this little sausage curl and oregano-induced chimichurri will transport you directly to BA (Buenos Aires). We topped it all off with the bomb pizza and it was. The bomb! Crispy, but a chewy crust topped with sopressata, red onion and capers. The slight tang and saltiness of the capers was a great surprise! My husband and I each left a piece of pie on the plate and we looked at each other and agreed that we could not send the plate back to the kitchen with pizza on it. Luca, we ate it all for you!! Fortunately, this spot is in our hood, so we will return again and again for more great nosh!

My son is a chef and very much wanted to take my wife and me to Nosh. I can see why. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. They have an interesting and varied menu of small, tapas-like dishes. Tip: Because it is a small dish-style place, you need to order enough dishes to satisfy everyone. We knew we were going to share the dishes, ordered enough, and really enjoyed it. The dishes were all creative, fresh, and delicious. I can see why my son wanted us to try it. I would definitely go back again.

I decided to try Nosh because they are owned by the same people who own Silo, one of my favorite restaurants in town. The place is small, intimate, and modern without being cold. The green chile mac and cheese, served on a piping hot cast iron skillet are a winner. They are creamy, cheesy, with a bit of heat from the green chiles, and topped with crunchy breadcrumbs to add both texture and appeal. Also, do not let the "small plates" heading fool you. The Mac & Cheese is large enough to feed 4 people. The lemongrass-habanero pork meatballs were good but lacked the heat I expect from something with "habanero" in its name. The chilled citrus noodles provided the perfect balance to the spicy meatballs, if only they would have lived up to their name. The ribeye cheesesteak with peppers, onions, mushrooms, pepperjack and cheddar cheese was juicy and gooey; two adjectives that are key to a good cheesesteak. The thing that brought me here, their house-made carrot cake, was the biggest disappointment of the night. It was too dense and very dry. If only it would have tasted as good as it looked. Yet another disappointment came about when I ordered coffee and the server said that Silo was already closed (it was about 9:30pm) and the coffee had been tossed. Keep in mind that Nosh is open until midnight. Whoever wants coffee from 9-12 will have to do without. Although Nosh has good prices and attentive service, it still needs improvement in certain areas. I will give it sometime before my second visit.

As I was randomly searching for local places to eat in San Antonio, I stumbled across Nosh. The reviews were a bit mixed -- some good some bad, but I usually try to refrain from looking at the reviews before I go and try a restaurant just so I don't judge it. A few friends of mine were quite hungry and we decided to go and try out Nosh. First of all, it is quite a far drive from where I live, so if you are ever wanting to venture to find places to eat, really plan out when you want to go to Nosh. We get in around 8 and it's a bit empty, probably because the dinner rush has gone or it's just a far location. We get seated and this place is quaint and meticulously decorated -- from metal buckets holding the utensils and menus to the bottles that hold the water for the table. We decided to order different dishes and try each of them. Green Chile Macaroni and Cheese -- pretty good, can't really taste a difference from regular macaroni and cheese and this one though. Pei Muscles -- muscles were very flavored because of the broth. Shiner Bock Battered Fish and Chips -- too much batter and it's too fried. If the chips had more body to it instead of the limp ones I got, it would have been really good. Shiner Bock Battered Mahi-Mahi fish tacos -- needs more flavor and it either needs to come with more fish tacos or a side of some sort. Serving two fish tacos on a huge platter makes it seem like we're being gypped Honestly, this place is a nice find and a good change from the typical chain restaurant cuisines. I would recommend that if you want to discover a new place to try to make the drive out to Nosh.

NOsH is one of my favorite late afternoon spots to meet up with people I like to have drinks and share small plates of food with. The ideal trip to Nosh should go like this. Find friend you haven't talked to in ages that you've been meaning to catch up with. Commit an afternoon at Nosh between the hours of 4 to 6, where you can then proceed to doing something different afterwards like seeing a Movie, Play, or Proper bar hop. Nosh offers a small plate special between said hours of 4~6pm where you can pick up one offering : Green Chilli Macaroni for a regular price and you can select a second for only a dollar. Highly recommend pairing said Mac n' Cheese with the breaded Shrimp. Happy Hour also happens to coincide with the small plate offerings so be sure to try out some of their drinks. I recommend the Bloody Mary offered here... they make sure to have the vodka soak with a variety of things to heighten the drink experience.

I've only been here once, but the service was AMAZING. Too amazing to the point where I felt guilty if I didn't tip more. The waitress was definitely very attentive and extremely friendly. Haha. I had the veal. I've never had veal before so I don't have anything to compare it with. But the most amazing thing is... the TRUFFLE OIL FRIES. These are the fries for me. These are the fries that I would marry and they will be the only fries I will ever eat for the rest of my life. So warm, so golden, right amount of crunch. The best fries ever.. I really want to go back for the fries.

I visited Nosh mid March of 2010 with a gal pal and her Husband. I had been looking forward to trying out Nosh for quite a while, drooling over the small and large plates listed on their online menu. Parking is just a bit funky, somewhat right off of street and directly in front of Nosh's fenced in patio. We were there during HH and enjoyed $6 wines. No crappy, pre-corked HH wine here. The options are awesome. The three of us shared the Green Chile Mac and Cheese and the sizzling Mushrooms. Wow, you won't want to 'nosh' here, you will want to devour! The Mac has a great bite to it, the green chile is key. The Mushrooms arrived singing and sizzling and were peppered with colors and flavors of red tomatoes, purple onions and garlic. The setting is really pretty; nice wood floors, lots of stainless steel and glass. There is cool artwork on the walls. Notably a panorama of San Antonio. I am pretty sure I have a print by the same artist, but mine is of Dallas (shout out). The bathrooms are mostly marble and very clean. The service was good, on point, well paced but not particularly warm. That is fine as my HH guests certainly were. We had our set ups before the food, had our plates cleared in a timely manner, had our waters refilled without asking... My only personal qualm is I wish it were closer in distance to my stomping ground. A big thanks to my gal's Husband for covering the tab. Like Christopher S. mentioned, Nosh was not busy at HH on a Friday night. But that means you can get a table y'all!

I wish I could say Nosh blew me away: it had all the markings of a great establishment - the menu, the decor, the patrons... But I was totally out of my element because, I confess, I don't drink beer. And beer they have, in droves. For the record, bf and I ordered classic sliders, sizzling mushroom / garlic / onion / swiss bruschetta and the Italian Doughnut Holes. Everything tasted pretty standard, except the doughnut holes, which were not the Shipley's/Dunkin kind, mind you. They relied on the dipping sauces for flavor, but otherwise, you're just downing large chunks of bland, hot dough. Garlic fries were soggy. Service was casual yet fleeting. Waiters were rather temporary, supposedly to promote socialization. Water is set in a bottle on the table, so help yourself. Valet parking in the back and limited parking in the front.

nosh sounds like a really cool concept. when i first came across it, i thought "small plates... so dim sum, but american." it turns out, you just get slightly less food than a normal entree at an american restaurant, but for pretty much the same price. i was hoping that they would be smaller/cheaper options so that i could try more of them menu items, but 1 item, maybe 2 would probably fill you up. none of the things we ordered were that memorable (crab cake sliders, shrimp & grits, korean tacos). the dessert here (only one choice -- sugar-covered donut holes with white and dark chocolate dipping sauces) was overwhelmingly sweet. i'm still looking for a place to get good food if you just want to hang out with friends and catch up, but aren't really hungry. let me know if any of you find a place like that!

Bring back the old Nosh...Please... Was disappointed to see that the new chef and posse ( new wait staff) had replaced what was previously awesome upscale bar food. They used to have awesome burger sliders and Korean tacos , just name a few missed dishes. Now with shredded octopus salad..really???..wow..what a joke. It is now overpriced and I am not an amateur diner.. Very sorry to see a great menu and stable staff replaced.....would like to give zero stars

My sister and I are obsessed with Groupons. If there's not a groupon, were probably not doing it. Call us cheapos, but don't hate. We ALWAYS tip on the full amount. We really enjoyed the food. My sister was pretty unfamiliar with the small plates concept, so if that's not your thing, don't go. It's also a bit pricey, but the shrimp and grits were out of this world- as were the aioli fries. Wait staff was attentive- but only one dessert option? Please! What are two curvaceous ladies supposed to do? Step it up, Nosh!

The food was great service was good but why oh why does the patio suck so bad? I love eating outside especially in the fall when san Antonio has finally cooled off but eating in that closed in, badly lit and landscaped patio is very difficult. The music is really bad too i heard all of the soft rock and 90's pop I could stomach and one top of that smokers from the bar kept coming out and stinking up the joint. However the food was good enough that we would endure more Celine dion and second hand smoke or just go on a rainy day.

I went a little late on a weeknight, and there were a few tables sat. I decided to sit outside since it was a nice night out. The waitress was WONDERFUL, and she took the time to explain all the items to me and make suggestions to help me decide what to get. I ended up going for the green chili mac & cheese, the Korean beef BBQ tacos, and the fries. I also got the backyard lemonade. The lemonade was just sweet enough, and the liquor, which could be felt, was not strong in the taste. A small drink, but a good size for just a taster with a little food. The mac & cheese was, as everybody says, delicious! It had a very unique flavor, but wasn't too spicy, so even my mom would probably enjoy it. The fries were good, cooked just right, and I would definitely add them with the sliders, or get the small plate if you have a group who really wants fries, but otherwise not really worth the $5 I think. If you do get them, try the garlic mayo dip, it really brings them to life! The tacos were by far the best part. Sweet, but not too much so, the beef was cooked perfectly, and the slaw gave a nice crunch. I could eat those every day! Definitely have to try them if you haven't. All in all, I really enjoyed Nosh. It's my new place to go when I want to splurge a little and have some foodie-ish food. It's a little pricy for everyday, but with the kinds of food they have, it's definitely a good deal. I can't wait to try some of the other options they offer!

My husband and I dined here on a Tuesday night. When we arrived, there were just a couple seats at the bar, but no tables inside. We were relegated to the patio dining area. Obviously, this was a mistake. We were forgotten about. I have nothing bad to say about the food. It was tasty but nothing to write home about. The drinks were a high point for me, though. That is, until our water ran out (while sitting outside in the heat) and the waiter took the bottle, never to return with more. Service took twice as long as it should have, and the dining room was empty when we went back through, save for a person at the bar. We had to go to the bar to pay our check, because the waiter simply was not to be seen.

Food quality was good, but price was overly high. My husband and I went because we had a Groupon Dinner for 2. We shared the Mushroom Bruschetta (my favorite part of the meal, very yummy and a large portion), we split the cheesesteak and garlic fries (good, but normally this would be about $8.99, but not so much above average to justify the $12.99 or $13.99 it normally costs. We split the donut hole dessert. All food was solidly yummy, with the brushetta being above average and enough food for the two of us to split, though we typically would have gotten 2 entrees. They do have a large selection of beers and wine. Atmosphere is a bit yuppy, but it's Alamo Heights, to be expected. Acoustics were poor, very noisy. If you want to be seen and don't mind the $ go, the food is good. For me, it was good for 1 time, but it wasn't worth it to me to revisit, I'll go back to Mon Thai instead.

I had friends in from Boston, so I made reservations. I've been to the bar at Silo before, but never to Nosh. We really enjoyed the meal! I love the small plate's concept - our group really loves to share. We tried the Shrimp salad-which was just ok. The buffalo mozz skewers were really delicious and the truffle fries were a hit- really crispy and the dipping sauce was good. The short ribs with polenta were fall off the bones tender, I'd have to say the highlight was the wild boar pizza, which is the special Thurs nights. I really didn't want to order it, but the guys insisted. I'm so glad they did! The meat was not game-y at all - it was SO good! We really enjoyed the entire meal, and I will definitely be back!

I come here when I feel like having a good glass of wine and a quiet night out- usually a Friday night after a crazy week at work. I've never seen more than 5 other tables occupied. The last couple of times, the bartender came around offering little samples of their different cocktails. My husband said they were good, but I'm not gonna lie, I was a party pooper and stuck to my wine. Which brings me to their wine... the list is pretty decent and they give you more than a fair serving size...they have always filled about half a wine glass and then given me a full mini carafe. I thought the server was just being nice our first visit, but this has stayed consistent each time. Also, I have been offered the wine list from Silo on some occasions. As for their plates...the green chile mac n cheese is scrumptious and has been a hit with anyone I've brought there. Their sliders are also pretty good and you get a decent amount of food for your money. All in all this is a great little place for a quiet night out or a good place to start your night. Plus if you want a little more excitement you can always head up to Silo.

Took my wife here for a date night and my only regret is that I have lived here for 2 years and not come before! The food was exceptionally delicious and the presentation was fantastic. We actually intended to go to the Silo Elevated Cuisine (co-located and co-owned but with a different atmosphere), but after looking at the menu we stayed. They have an excellent beer and wine selection, so while it's not in the "posh" Stone Oak area, Nosh is as good as it gets for my money!

Yummo. First of all, get the mac n' cheese. Also the banana pudding is very tasty. The cheesesteak was good, but not very adventerous/unique. Very polite wait staff and the menu is just the right size. Also, great drink and beer list. We'll be back!

Great potential, but the new chef and staff seem to be feeling things out. My girlfriend and I went there for a light bite before a first-Friday night on the town. The menu was intriguing and we decided to share four plates (Nosh features large and small plates) and we each ordered drinks. Drinks--champagne cocktail and beer. My gf ordered the champagne cocktail, which she enjoyed. The extensive beer list piqued my I interest; but I was disappointed that the menu failed to include draft v. bottled headings because--despite the hype--the beer list was of the bottled variety. Prices were reasonable but unremarkable. Round 1--truffle fries and beef tartare. The truffle fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The truffle flavor was noticeable but not overpowering--perfect for a small plate of fries. They included a wonderful mustard that we saved for the other dishes (discussed below). The beef tartare was a bit overwhelming. While the presentation was lovely--two "egg" shapes of enticing beef well-dressed beside swirls of on-plate mustard garnish--the beef flavor (critical to any tartar) was overwhelmed by the dressings. Round 2--Argentinean sausage and pork belly. The pork belly was delicious. A thick slab of pork was cooked through and moist and served in a bothy sauce. But what set this dish apart were delicious sautéed red peppers and onions. Simple peasant's fare done right. The sausage--skewered--was initially quite good and savory; but it eventually disappointed because it was undercooked. The staff was helpful. The atmosphere was trendy but welcoming. I would return, but probably only for happy hour until the new kitchen staff gets its feet under it. By bravo for menu boldness and worth a trip if you happen to be in the area (not worth a separate trip).

Our first time here for lunch. Not disappointed at all, and will certainly come back. We have tried Silo on 1604, knowing how good their food was, we thought Nosh couldn't be disappointing. I had the Crab meat sliders which was fantastic - my husband had their daily chef's special, which was Flat Bread Lump Crab meat. I had a bite of it, and it was fantastic. I wish we had room for dessert, but it will have to be for next visit!

Groupon took me here the first time, but the casual atmosphere, friendly servers, and spot-on flavors made me a regular. I order the shrimp and grits EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Scrumptiousness. The beer selection is also also great!

I have long sung the praises of nosh. I have recommended it to everyone I know and plenty of people I don't know. It was...my absolute favorite place. We were a group of 8 tonight with a reservation and waited 30 minutes for our table. Nosh has a new menu. They did not keep any item from the previous and when asked if we could order our favorite dish were honestly hostile...and defensive about it. wierd. okay. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu.....and out of the 8 of us...not one would return. It was pretty much universally awful. The beef tartar was well recieved by two at the table and the wild boar sliders were liked as well. otherwise the food was horrible...I take that back. The cheese plate was good. The pasta dishes were bland and chewy and undercooked in parts. The pork Belly was so salty no one took two bites. The risotto balls were bland and tasted mostly of peas. The open faced beef sandwich came on soggy bread that seemed microwaved. (every microwave white wet bread?) the salmon was tasty...everyone liked it. There was a spicy noodle dish that came around that was so salty it was inedible The waitress was slow, unorganized , and made frequent mistakes, lost orders and brought the wrong food. She was openly rude to my friend when she asked why her pizza had never come.. " the chef sends it out when he wants to !" what? she had a deep love for rolling her eyes when there was a problem. I am so sad I have lost my favorite place. We spent three times as much as we have in the past and truly did not enjoy the food. If anyone knows where the chef and staff of the original nosh went please tell me!! I'd love to go their place :)

My husband and I went here on a date night. We went on a Tuesday night with a groupon that we bought. My husband enjoyed the wide range of beers they offered. Right away the waiter asked if we needed help with the menu. I love how they offered small plates and large plates were perfect! The food was great and the service was excellent that's why i'm giving it 5 stars for the service and will def be going back.

Took over 15 minutes to be greeted, we had to ask for a server even though we were right in front of 5 bar & wait staff (who were too busy texting on their phones). When we were ready to order the girl asked us to "hold on a minute" who says that to a customer?! She returned ten minutes later with a bad attitude. Food was not terrible but nothing to rave about. Avoid it at all costs! Go to Max's, they are super cool and attentive, and foods is way better too.

This used to be my favorite place to go for a quick, awesome meal. I went last Friday and was so excited to have their chicken wings. My husband, and dinner partner, was going to order the Korean BBQ and we were going to split the Mac and cheese. Guess what folks- they're not on the menu anymore. And neither are any of the other yummy things there. That's because they hired a new chef who has changed the entire menu. The food is very up scale. I can't comment on the food because we left (nothing on the menu appealed to us) but am very disappointed the former menu items aren't there. If anyone knows where the former chef went, can you please pass it along?

The chef and staff recently changed for the worst. The dining experience in one word-- HORRID!! I thought for the longest for a positive thing to say and was left with, " You won't need a reservation at this restaurant. There will always be vacant tables."

We started with the jalapeño poppers and Chinese wings for appetizers and they were excellent. Unfortunately, they were by far the highlight of the meal. My wife ordered the Mac and cheese with green chilis. While it wasn't bad, it was not good either - totally unremarkable. My son had the Cheesesteak sandwich. The outer thirds (ends) of the sandwich had almost no flavor at all. Fortunately, the center of the sandwich did have a good flavor. I ordered the slider sampler. The pork, crab cake and burger sliders weren't bad, they just really weren't good and certainly not better than a much cheaper restaurant. The fries were good, although we were unable to get any ketchup despite several requests. Our server brought the check and started to walk away before returning to ask if we wanted desert. That should have been our cue, but unfortunately we ordered an order of doughnut holes that were rolled in sugar and came with white and dark dipping chocolate. The holes themselves were definitely overdone and tasted as though the oil they were fried in needed to be changed. Although I'm not a fan of white chocolate, the dipping white chocolate was tasty and covered up the taste of the holes. The dark chocolate was actually bitter and tasted like it had been scorched. The $60 bill (we drank water) was extremely high for both the quality and quantity of food. We'll head back to go upstairs to the Silo (good food) but we won't be back to Nosh. Overpriced and lacking in quality.

We had a groupon to Nosh. We had never been and went for dinner. Parking isn't the best but not a huge problem. We waited for a bit and were eventually seated in the bar area that is apparently shared by Silo? It was kind of odd. In any case, the food was good, though I think I enjoyed mine (korean beef tacos) more than my man (sliders) did, and the cocktails were good enough, especially considering the great happy hour specials. We'd definitely go back during happy hour, it's pricey otherwise.

I have visited this place several times in the last few months. On every occasion, I've been blown away by the high quality of food, the thoughtful wine and beer selections, and the amazingly reasonable prices. As one reviewer indicated, the "small" plates are larger than you think, and the overall value of the place is off the scale compared to some of the other fine dining destinations around town. Chef Luca is a true Italian gem, seemingly straight out of "Big Night," and his servers are efficient and know their stuff. Believe me when I say I will be back, and often. Nosh is the kind of place I would happily own myself if I were in the business.

This place was good. The menu didn't have a lot of selections, but everything we ordered was pretty tasty. The atmosphere seemed a little awkward. Maybe we just went at a weird time. I will agree that the $4 drinks aren't worth bothering, what a tease!

My wife and I dined at Nosh tonight for the second time. What a great little find! I've had a few business lunches at Silo upstairs and despite seeing Nosh's sign every day on the drive home, I never ate there until last week. I guess I had been turned off by the whole "small plates" thing. I have a hearty appetite and when I saw their sign advertising this, I envisioned a snooty waiter presenting me with a single shrimp in a puddle of sauce to the tune of $20. How wrong I was. One day after work, my wife finally talked me into having dinner at Nosh. I was surprised to find that not only are the plates completely affordable (most average around $6-8), they are completely substantial in portion. Some of the "appetizers" were sizable enough to feed a table of four. We took home a doggy bag and vowed to return. Tonight we came back with two friends in tow. Another meal at Nosh, another ball hit out of the park. We started our meal with the sauteed mushrooms on bruschetta. A big sizzling griddle soon appeared at our table, heaped with deliciously marinated fungi, caramelized onions, juicy roasted cherry tomatoes and delicious slices of toasted bread covered with cheese and herbs. I needed a drink, so I ordered a Bloody Mary. It was fantastic. Spicy and thick, topped with two savory olives and served in a salted glass, I drank mine and ordered another. One of our companions ordered the vegetarian tacos and proclaimed them "delicious". Our other companion ordered the Shiner-battered fish and chips. To me, this looked like the weakest dish of the night but he loved them. My wife ordered the Greek salad but was so full from the bruschetta that she had it boxed to take home instead. I had the shrimp and grits and was blown away. There were at least six massive jumbo shrimp perched in a very ample mound of savory grits, topped by bits of delicious ham, surrounded by a delicious moat of spicy gravy. I've had this dish numerous times in Charleston and my wife--a Charleston native--cooks it for me on special occasions so I feel confident saying that Nosh does a textbook version of this delicious dish. We were stuffed but we decided to push it and go for the dessert anyway. We ordered the doughnut holes. Sweet doughy balls, coated in browned sugar, served with dark chocolate and vanilla sauces, they were the perfect end to a wonderful meal. The only bummer about this restaurant is that it was nearly empty at 7:45 on a Saturday night. Why? We have no idea. They serve outstanding food at a great value. I'd say that they may even beat Tre Trattoria when it comes to gourmet food at an affordable price. Perhaps it's that "small plates" sign out front that is running away hungry San Antonians. I hope that this place gets discovered because it deserves to stick around. A+

We went for happy hour. The cucumber martini was overly sweet, but strong. Beer excellent, and bartender knew what he was talking about on that front. Food was eh. Had the green chili macaroni (good, needed salt) and chinese chicken wings (good). Both huge portions. Happy hour was supposed to be order 2 small plates, 2nd one is $1. Given that they are $8-9 to start with, still not cheap for chicken and macaroni. No drink specials. Realized after we left that we did not get the happy hour price on the small plates. Fun patio, but overall eh...

OMG green chile Mac and cheese on a sizzling skillet with a cold glass of crisp sauvignon blanc. Sooooo good. My husband and I shared a couple other "small plates" including Nasho's with black beans, 4 cheeses, cilantro and lime creme fraiche and crab cake sliders. Nothing but 5 stars across the board.

I have a little crush on Nosh. I'm a sucker for "slightly upscale, with a whimsical twist" and that is exactly what Nosh is. The food is good, the cocktails are delicious, and the environment is delightful-- lots of shiny wood and intimate tables, which makes for a nice dining ambiance. The service was excellent as well. I always want to try everything on the menu when I go to a new place, and with the small plates and the cocktail "flights" at Nosh I came pretty close. I didn't have anything to eat that was a total standout (I have to say that Nosh carries on its big brother Silo's tradition of liberally dousing entrees in oil-- not that I can really complain, because I love some oil), but it was all very pleasant and yummy, especially the zeppole (Italian doughnuts, served with sides of warmed chocolate for dipping) at the end. I'm looking forward to heading back so I can try the green chile mac and cheese and down a perfectly spicy bloody mary.

I RARELY give reviews good or bad, but my experience at Nosh has inspired me to do so. My wife and I were meeting friends thinking the atmosphere and food would be a little unique....wrong. Nearly empty restaurant (not really a problem) and it still took 5 minutes for our lackluster server to take our drink order. As far as the food goes, they were out of all appetizers except for the mushrooms....at 8:30 pm. I had the Korean BBQ tacos which were decent. Wife had the fish tacos which resembled a long John silvers platter more than anything! The rigatoni was beyond bland, which made the entree success (or lack thereof) a deflating 1 for 3. The banana pudding was definitely the highlight to a disappointing meal. As a side note, we had also been given a Silo gift card that listed both San Antonio locations. however we were told that gift cards purchased at the blanco rd location cannot be used at the Austin hwy location because their computers aren't "linked up." That wasn't a huge deal, just annoying more than anything because of mediocre food. Poor service, unavailable food options, and blander than bland entrees should throw up some pretty serious red flags!

Not bad not bad. It's a snacky place with limited (but delicious) items on their menu. Hilarious waiter who refilled, brought food out quickly, and cared. Great truffle oil french fries and spinach salad. Wasn't too much of a fan of the pizza ($9 for indiv. pizza) since the crust was rock hard. Love the atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Next time, will be hitting up the house made tiramisu and the crepes.
